All my collars, leads and harnesses are made with quality metal fittings and quality fabrics.  Some ribbons will be more liable to fray or get catches though, as some are made from more delicate fabrics. But all can be hand washed in warm water and non bio washing detergent, and be gently rubbed with your fingers to dislodge any dirt, so will last a long time and look fresh and clean for a long time to come.
